Event Sequence

Time marches on and sometimes it marches across your layout. Whether you are capturing an event second by second or showing several hours in increments, using a sequence of shots is a great way to show time passing. You can organize select photos from any event to showcase the entire story in one strong layout.

Janice created a great flow in her layout by varying the sizes of her photos. She also lightened her main photograph in color and created a great focal point. If you aren't familiar with photo software, try printing all your photographs in black and white, and just one main photo in color.

I love that Jill got creative with her photos, and cropped them into different shapes. I also love how she echoed the title's celebration theme by using so many bright colors in her layout. Beautifully done! Kat created a grid pattern for all of her photographs and this is a great idea when you have a series of photos!

Wait For Me by Janice Badger

Digital Supplies: Paper: Peek-a-boo Grunge 2 and Peek-a-boo Oops Bits (modified) by Tracy Ann Designs, Frames: Photo Clusters No 17 by Katie Pertiet, Stuck Up Frames by Misty Cato, Alpha: Vintage Flash Alpha No. 2 by Katie Pertiet, Strip: Funky Strips by Tracy Ann Designs, Title background: Active Life Titles 1 (modified and recolored) by Tracy Ann Designs, Stitching: Tadoodle Mats by Tracy Ann Designs, Software: Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Lightroom (Adobe), Fonts: Georg, Jefferson.

Design Notes: To make the focal photo stand out, I made it larger than the companion photos, and also washed it with a number of lightening filters in Lightroom.

Journaling: Jeremy did not want to be left out of a chance to check out Uncle Bill's fishing pole on our first morning walking out the Brewster Flats. Once he saw Uncle Bill showing Matthew, Jeremy started running.

Funny Photo Shoot by Kat Poole

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Paper: Crate Paper, Strips: Crate Paper, Alphabets: Jillibean Soup, Doodlebug Design, Sketch: Just C & S.

Design Notes: I love using the basic grid design when showcasing a series of photos from the same event. It's easy and it almost always looks good!

Journaling: Ya gotta love these series of photos. Eric kept holding down the button to take multiple pictures and he kept the same pose the whole time. The same cannot be said for me. The pictures show all my expressions...and the fact that I finally left him (with a goodbye kiss, of course)!

Celebration of Life by Jill Williams

Digital Supplies: Kit: Joyful Memories Page Kit designed by Christine Gundersen (Digital Scrapbook Place), Font: Pea Superamy.

Design Notes: There are so many awesome backgrounds in Chris' kit, that I wanted to use as many as I could, so I cropped the title out of the yellow background and used the patterned background as a mini frame around the page. I did not use a lot of elements because I wanted the page to focus on the photos and the journaling - and the different patterns on the frame and vertical element gave the page interest.

Journaling: July 5, 2011 We gathered at Krape Park for lunch & then had a balloon launch in mem- ory of Dad & Mom. It was a bittersweet moment when everyone released their bal- loon. 2011 has been a rough year for our family, and the releasing of the balloons was very healing. It is something we intend on doing each year.
