Crisp. Cool. Calm. All words used to
describe that shift from the heat and humidity of summer to fall
here in Chicagoland. It is quite literally the calm before
the storm as winter brings some doozies here. We often
have days with weather that changes 30 degrees in a single day.
As the days shorten, I find that we race to pack in extra
activities "before winter". We say to each other sentences
along the lines of: "we better get in that last trip to the zoo"
or "this might be the last weekend to golf". But somehow
even though we are filling our schedule, it does not seem
rushed. Maybe it is that we are so enamored of the
changing color of the leaves or that the lovely weather allows
us to linger, but fall fun is rarely frantic.
Although I would describe myself as a summer gal, the
colors of fall have always been my favorite. Each year I
promise myself that soon I will retire to a warm locale, but I
know that I will miss the shades of fall. There is
something so rich and warm about the hues.
This means I am a sucker for all things fall when scrappy
shopping. I just cannot resist adding paper after paper to
my shopping cart. Give me gold, orange, brown, red, green,
and blue and I am off to the scrappy desk. I even try to
mimic the season when I scrap in these shades.
I strive for crisp, cool, and calm in my fun fall pages.
I wish you a fantastic fall!
