Monochromatic fashion is very chic and slimming, so I’m wondering do these scrapbook pages look thinner to you? Kidding aside, these pages do emphasize the benefits of using hues in one color palette. You can throw away your color wheel. You don’t have to worry if the colors match. The focus can be on what mood is evoked from your photos.
Does orange make you think of a fall harvest? Or does it remind you of the heat of the sun? Maybe you are getting hungry, orange can stimulate your appetite too. When choosing a color for your scrapbook page, use the internet to investigate what different colors mean. Shades of green are great for nature photos. Purple is associated with royalty and wisdom, so how about using it for your Halloween princess or a back to school layout. You can choose a color that is already in your photo or turn your photo black and white to let your color choice emphasize and complement the mood portrayed in the photo.
Next time you are not sure what colors to use on your project, think about going monochromatic. For these pages, orange is the color. And, whether it's apricot, bittersweet, peach, or coral, orange can be used to celebrate a wide range of emotions. "Orange" you glad orange is such a versatile color?

Supplies: Cardstock: Recollections, Paper: Doodlebug Design,
Flowers: Prima Marketing, Bling: Prima Marketing,
Alpha: Doodlebug Design,
Ribbon: Little Yellow Bicycle,
Paint: Apple Barrel, Other: buttons, ribbon.
Editor's Note: Kat used a white
background and grey elements to allow the orange to really pop.
With such strong grounding points, she could mix in different
shades of orange beautifully.
Journaling: At 23, I am a carefree California girl. I love my job and the people
I work with. I have an amazing family and boyfriend. And even though I don’t have
a billion friends, the ones I do have are the best! - August 1, 2010.

Digital Supplies: Kit: Beyond Beauty by Heidi Keuster (Digital Scrapbook
Place).
Design Notes: I chose to "create white space" by keeping the photo and elements in the
corner because the background was textured, I didn't want the page to look
too busy by having the photo and elements scattered throughout the page. I
added horizontal cropped papers under the photo to balance out the
vertically placed stamped flowers.
