My name is Mireille, I live in the north of Holland
close to sea with my husband and daughter Amber and son Noah. I
work as a counselor in psychiatry and I have been "creative" since I was a
little girl. My grandma raised me partially and she taught me a lot of
things like quilting, needlepoint, knitting, making embossed cards, crochet
and making bobbin lace. I started these hobbies when I was young. I didn't like
all of it that much so I kind of stuck to knitting, making cards and
needlepoint.
When I was a
teen, I started traveling with my aunt. She took me on
city trips to Paris and London.. she wanted them to be educative so during
the trip we collected all kinds of things, had me take lots of pictures and
write stories about my adventures. When we got home she bought me an album
and together we put everything in. A page on the Eifel tower with entrance
tickets, a folded napkin from the restaurant, a flower that grew below it,
and a large story about who build it .. the tons of steel inside it etc etc.
She stimulated me to "tell my adventures through my book" so others would
enjoy it more then flipping through a regular photo album.
So for me that's the true beginning of my scrapbooking habit / hobby ;)
somewhere in 1986.
I was introduced to scrapbooking as we know it in the beginning of 2005. A co-worker asked me for pictures of Amber and I was happy to
show her. I asked her about her son and she pulled this mini-album from her
purse.
It was SOOO beautiful. I never saw patterned paper and all the other stuff
before. She taught me and I have been hooked ever since. The scrapbooking business is taking a much slower start here in Holland then it
was in America.
I was lucky enough to be on design teams, experience teaching smaller and
bigger events and be published in Holland and in America. I so love sharing
work and look and learn from other peoples work, there is always something
out there to inspire me, if it isn't people, events or books, it sure is in
nature and the colors of the season.
I don't know what my style is. I really couldn't put a name on it since that
would be way to static for me. I LOVE patterned paper, so what I play with
most is different pieces of patterned paper. I love ribbons and flowers
too.. so I use that too. My mood is reflected in my pages.
I am so happy to be a part of this amazing community. Scrapstreet really
feels like home. I am very happy and honored to be able to work on the
magazine as well. It's so much fun. I hope you will enjoy Scrapstreet as much
as I do.
