Fairy Tales

Scrapping fairy tales provides an invitation to break out soft colors, layered flowers, and all that glitters. Limited only by your imagination, you can create a world where fantasy becomes reality, and dreams really do come true. And you do not even need a magic wand!

Pixie dust and fairy wings. Unicorns and an enchanted forest. Prince Charming and a big beautiful castle. What do you dream about? What do your children dream about? Next time, ask them what their “happily ever after” is ... you might be surprised.

Uni by Janneke Smit

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Chipboard Star: Scenic Route, Stickers: American Crafts, Ribbon: Morex, Bling: Heidi Swapp, Eyelets: Making Memories, Software: Adobe Photoshop CS3, Font: Baby Boston.

Design Notes: I used my photo editing software to create and print the moon shape. I used this shape to cut out the cardstock and the main photo. I cut out a photo of the stuffed toy and used that as an embellishment. I punched holes in the star and the moon and hung the star from the moon by threading ribbon through the eyelets in the holes. To create a visual triangle I used bling on top of the unicorn's collar, around the star and on top of the title. I chose a dark grey background to make a "night" scene.

Journaling: Uni was a gift from Ria and Dave, and Larissa sleeps with her every night. Uni protects her from bad dreams! Of course as soon as Larissa is asleep we put Uni aside so she doesn't suffocate. But she looks so adorable and peaceful all wrapped (up) in her stuffed pink unicorn. September 2008

Little Fairy by Debbie Sherman

Supplies: Paper: Harlee-Quinnz Designs, Rhinestones: Prima Marketing, Flowers: Prima Marketing, Petaloo, Bazzill Basics Paper, Stickers: American Crafts, K & Company, Ink: Clearsnap, Tools: Punches (Martha Stewart Crafts, Fiskars).

Editor's Notes: To add an extra touch to her layout, Debbie distressed all of her papers with either chalk ink or an edge distresser.

Journaling: Belle loves to dress up and pretend she's a fairy. I love listening to her believe.

FairyTale Town by Patty Hamilton

Supplies: Paper: Studio Calico, My Mind’s Eye, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Stickers: American Crafts, Making Memories, Rub-Ons: Lily Bee Design, Die-Cuts: K & Company, KI Memories, Collage Press, Pen: American Crafts, Tool: Punch (Fiskars).

Design Notes: To make the scalloped edges I used paper which actually looks like a banner and cut around the circles, and then used a punch for the top two layers of scalloping. I also really liked the cork alphabet because it seemed to tie the castle wall entrance in nicely.

Journaling: One of our favorite stops when we go on our weekend trips to Sacramento is Fairytale Town. There is so much for an 'under 6er' to do. Your favorites are Cinderella’s Pumpkin Coach, the crooked mile and, of course, the red tractor. Photo 08/08
