Holiday Tags

This month Card Corner is taking a step away from cards to look at another holiday staple--the gift tag.  I am the first to admit that I was the WORST wrapper ever.  I believed that gift bags were created just so that I did not have to wrap presents.  And then my daughter became old enough to want to help with the holiday shopping and she fell in love with pretty presents.  She wanted to coordinate wrapping paper and bows before adding in decorative elements.  Basically, she was "scrap wrapping" presents.

Her enthusiasm infected me and pretty soon I was using my "special" supplies to help her create her masterpieces.  We found that small gifts could be wrapped in a single sheet of patterned paper with coordinating elements for a showstopping gift.

As the holiday season grows closer, we have already started creating the first of many tags.  Take a peek at these tags to jump start your own game of tag.

Jolly by Janneke Smit

Supplies: Paper, Die Cut, Sticker: Crate Paper, Cardstock: Canson, Ribbon: American Traditional Designs, Ink: Rubber Stampede, Coloring Pencils: Staedtler, Around the Block. Tools: Stamp: Studio G, Decorative Scissors, Hole Punch: Provo Craft.

Design Notes: Many manufacturers like Crate Paper have themed lines with matching paper, stickers, die cuts, etc. to make creating something easy. I simply colored in the stamped image and added some matching ribbon, and my tag was finished in no time!

Supplies: Paper, Die Cuts, Alphabet:  Pink Paislee, Bling: Heidi Swapp, Button: BasicGrey, Tulle: Bazzill Basics Paper.  Tools: Punch: Fiskars.

Design Notes: To make the flower, I simply punched circles, crumpled them, and then layered with circles of tulle.  Quick and cute!

Silent Night Tag by Katey Green

Digital Supplies: Kit: Silent Night - A ScrapStreet Collaboration featuring Arven, Tag Template: Adobe PSE7, Fonts: Virile.

Design Notes: Hybrid tags are very easy to make in Photoshop. I used a template I had in my Adobe PSE7 folders, resized my paper and then clipped it over the template. I added the strip of mixed elements and snowflakes, (all reduced in size) and clipped them over the template. Then I turned down the opacity of the snowflakes so they faded into the background. A bit of seasonal text and then print and cut out ready to tie on your gifts.
