Hey, scrappers, look who we've found! I'm so glad to have snatched up our newest Discovery, Avina Lim. Her work is just amazing and surprising, and so detailed that I'm more than pleased to share her with every reader.
Few can scrap as Avina can. I'd say it's a large talent to put as many supply items, embellishments, colors and "things" on one page, and make it look so light and pretty as Avina does. It's not only the layers of embellishments, but her color choices are so pleasing that every page is candy for the eye. Decoration, color and then spacing, placement and positioning of it all, and even her photographs are a complete work of art. This girl just can't get it wrong! Shabby chic, I guess? Is there a word for, "not afraid to use the 'stash'"?
With each twist and turn of every layer of her pages, I'm guessing she hears plenty of "oohs" and "aahs" when her family and friends are flipping through her scrapbooks.
Avina, I truly hope we get to see more of you in and around the scrapbooking world. I remind readers that this is the tiniest glimpse into your scrapbooks. We, at ScrapStreet, wish you more and more continued success - you've got something special there on your scrapping table!

Beautiful Day by Avina Lim
Supplies: Paper: Bella Paper Crafts, My Mind's Eye, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Flowers, Bling: Prima Marketing, Pearls: Kaisercraft, Metal: SEI, Chipboard: Rusty Pickle, Journaling Card: Webster's Pages, Specialty Ink: Tattered Angels, Ink: Tsukineko, Pen: Uni-ball, Other: doilies.
Design Notes: Misting is increasingly popular and rightly so. Here I have used a doily as a mask for the background for a soft effect. By masking, the cardstock is made more interesting without being too crowded or busy. Inking of paper doesn’t have to be restricted to brown or blacks. By using a contrasting color, there is definition to the elements being inked but not in a way that is too stark.
Journaling: Finally reached ORPC. Getting ready for photos.

Grandma & Me by Avina Lim
Supplies: Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Inkadinkado, Die Cuts With A View, Stickers: Fontwerks, Heidi Grace, Me and My Big Ideas, KI Memories, K & Company, 7 Gypsies, Chipboard: Me and My Big Ideas, Die-Cuts: Collage Press, Making Memories, Glitter: Ranger Industries, Other: masking tape, paint, staples, magazine page.
Design Notes: Often times, we take many photos of a certain event. This is especially so since digital photography is so much cheaper than film. I like to use a photo collage to tie them all into 1 layout. Furthermore, it tells a story in ways that words don't. By varying the sizes of the photos, one can place emphasis on the larger photo.

Smiles & Laughter by Avina Lim
Supplies: Paper: Sassasfras Lass, Pink Paislee, Water Color Pencils: Staedler, Glitter, Crackle Paint: Ranger Industries, Ink: Tsukineko, Die-Cut: Collage Press, Chipboard: Maya Road, American Crafts, Pretty Darn Quick, Rub-On: American Crafts, Creative Imaginations, Chatterbox, Alphabet: American Crafts, SEI, Flowers: Prima Marketing, Dew Drops: Robin’s Nest, Brads: Kaisercaft, Rain Dots: Cloud 9, Stickers: 7Gypsies, Tools: Die (Sizzix).
Design Notes: Emphasis is made on the main picture by highlighting it with a contrasting color on a monochromatic layout. Layering of embellishments also makes for unique and interesting embellishments you can truly call your own.
