Showcasing Multi-Photo Layouts

When I first started scrapbooking, I was more into single-photo layouts. I was so intimidated to use multiple photos as I felt I might just clutter my page. Using smaller sizes of photos that I loved helped me overcome this fear and now, I always try to do multi-photo layouts unless a single photo can tell my story by itself.

I’m so happy to share that this month at Chic Street, I have seven pages showcasing 21 fabulous and awesome layouts. I grouped them per theme/design idea so you can see sample layouts and take ideas and inspiration for your next projects.

First off is the use of multiple photos of the same sizes. Michelle used small photos and arranged them in just one area so that there is negative space on her “Quality Girl Time” layout. Pearl, on the other hand, employed symmetry in her photo arrangement on her “Cousins are The Best!” layout. Tracy’s awesome pyramid photo arrangement on her “Tracy Lynn” layout just jumped out at me when I first saw it and I knew I just had to feature it!

Quality Girl Time by Michelle Tan

Supplies: Paper, Alphabet Stickers: American Crafts, Other: pen.

Design Notes: I hand cut the vine patterned paper to create borders for the photos and I distressed the edges of the light blue patterned paper.

Journaling: This was the first Saturday in months that wasn't bound by commitments and events. I woke up early and even managed to scrap a little. Lia texted me and we made plans to meet in town at 10am to catch the Javanese and Thai wayang shows (shadow puppets) at Te Papa. The shows were a bit slow and it was a stunning, sunny, late winter's day. We headed up to the roof top and sat in the sun and took photos and chat. Lunch time came and we went for yumcha @ Regal and had all the prawn dishes! We did a bit of shopping and then came home to my apartment. Such a perfect day spent with one of my favorite people. I love quality girl time with Lia.

Cousins Are The Best! by Pearl Liu

Supplies: Paper: Prima Marketing, Alphabet: Pink Paislee, Stickers: BoBunny Press, Buttons: Autumn Leaves, Floss: Darice, Sketch: Little Shop of Sketches.

Design Notes: I used 10 little Polaroid-shaped photos for this multi-photo layout based on Sketch #49 by the Little Shop of Sketches.

Journaling: Together @ Horte Park , Aug 9, 2009.

Tracy Lynn by Tracy Hunt

Digital Supplies: Kit: Eternally Yours Value Collection by Erica Belton (Digital Scrapbook Place), Software: Adobe Photoshop Elements 6, Fonts: CK Maternal, Cloister Black, Century Gothic.

Design Notes: I was inspired to scrap this page by the ME-mories Challenge's "Origins of Your Name". The page contains six photo arranged in a fairly ridged composition. By turning the grid and rulers on in Photoshop Elements makes aligning the photos very easy. To give the layout a cohesive look, I changed the color photos to black and white, then used a sepia filter on all of them.

Journaling: Tracy means pretty. Lynn balances well with Tracy and McCranie. If you had been a boy, we had decided on Karl Scott. The name Tracy was unusual in 1962 and I had only heard of one other person with that name; a soap opera star on TV. I did want of fancy it up a bit and spell it Tracie, but your Dad wanted it plain Tracy, like Dick Tracy. Your Nanny wanted Angela so she could call you Angel, which she did anyway. Grandma ‘Cranie pushed for Karla, with a K. I called you Gert more than anything!
