“It is the unseen, unforgettable, ultimate accessory of fashion that heralds your arrival and prolongs your departure.” – Coco Chanel

At first glance, one might think that the only way to portray dress forms in scrapbooking is on layouts about little girls or ladies. This is not true. There are numerous other ways to use dress forms. Take a look at what these designers did with various chipboard dress forms. Cassandra and Diana created birthday cards with theirs. Connie created a cute banner to decorate her wall. These are just a couple of examples in which one can use dress forms in scrapbooking. What other ways can you think of for using a dress form in your projects?

All Dressed Up by Connie Casement

Supplies: Paper: The Girls’ Paperie, Pink Paislee, My Mind’s Eye, Chipboard : Maya Road Ribbon: May Arts, Bazzill, Rhinestones: Heidi Swapp, Glitter: Martha Stewart Crafts, Paint: Folk Art, Ink: Ranger Industries, Punches: Martha Stewart Crafts, Other: corrugated cardboard, vintage dictionary paper, tissue paper, pearls, wire, floss. Tools: Die Cut Machine: Accucut, Dies: Accucut.

Design Notes: Currently, I have an obsession with dress forms. When I saw these from Maya Road, I knew I had to make something with them. They come 8 on a chain, so you’ll have some left over for another project. You will need to cut 5 additional bases out of light weight chipboard (they come only with one) and painted them black with craft paint. Once they are dry, lightly sand to distress & ink over the distressed areas with vintage photo ink. The bases were then glued to back side of 5 dress forms. I then covered the back side with vintage dictionary paper. It just look more finished with the back side papered also. The fronts are covered with a variety of papers. Three from The Girls’ Paperie, My Mind’s Eye and actual paper tissue from the thrift store. Once the fronts & backs are covered you can ink the edges with black soot. Use corrugated cardboard to cut the oval. Cover with more vintage dictionary paper, ink the edges. Glitter and adhere your letters to these pieces. I strung these together using one long piece of wire. Between each dress form I put three pearls alternating white with black. I ended with a big crystal. Make sure you leave a long enough tail for hanging and adding the mini pennants.
