The gals at the Streets have taken Cards for Heroes under their wings by spending the month creating wonderful cards to send overseas for soldiers to send back home loved ones and friends. Brianne took control by organizing awesome challenges, special guests, and tons of fun prizes! Special guests included Karen Russell who offered a free spot in her photography class, and Jennifer McGuire who offered a box of 300+ sheets of patterned paper. I really think that this cause will stay close to the hearts of many of the Scrapstreet sisters.
As is the norm for August, it’s back-to-school time! Scrapstreet sisters have everything from first time pre-schoolers and kindergartners to first year college students. All heading into the wide, wonderful world that is education. And let’s not forget the teachers on our Streets! Back-to-school time is just as fresh, exciting and stressful for them!
And with back-to-school comes fundraising. Poor Lori ended up having 55 tubs on cookie dough that she had to somehow find a way to keep frozen before she could get them distributed. We saw frozen veggies being thrown in every direction. And then, were treated to a cookie-cooking bonanza! Cookies in every flavor: chocolate chip, peanut butter, and oatmeal. Yum!
August was also the month for harvest. Hot Peppers did really well this year, just be careful you don’t touch them and then rub your eyes, you’ll cry for a week!
And, don’t you know, our very own Jakey celebrated his birthday this month! Happy Birthday, Jakey! He was treated with a celebration at our all-time-favorite place, Chuck E. Cheese! Gotta love that place, NOT! Well, maybe
5 year-olds love it!
Oh, I almost forgot to mention the spectacular six returned from the summer CHA show in Orlando, Florida. I can only say that they made some awesome choices for the next set of kits. I know I’m excited! They also made some time to do some heave-duty girl bonding! Shopping, playing, talking, it just doesn’t get any better than that for six ladies!
Members of the Pit Crew got an extra special opportunity to work with September Showroom manufacturer, Paper Trunk! The girls worked their magic, which wasn’t hard to do with these wonderful papers. Run, don’t walk, over to the Showroom and check it out! Thanks, Paper Trunk, for letting us play with your product!
August was also a month filled with family vacations. Dora extended her trip to Orlando and was met by her family to spend a week at the Disney properties. Janice packed up her boys and headed to the Cape for a week of sand and surf. Stacey also trekked her family to the shore for some sunrises and sea-shelling. Heather’s campground is in full swing selling out most every weekend!
And for those of us who didn’t get a chance to go away for vacation, it was the wildly-popular “stay-cation.” Linda kept the momentum going on her kitchen remodel. Hannah attended dance camp and almost has the “shimmy” down pat! Nicole watched her baby-bump expand and learned to adapt to some crazy cravings and the loss of appetite for her favorite foods. Brianne continued to train and signed-up for her first 5K, GO BRI! Christa’s son was filmed for an interview regarding the Football Hall of Fame (you can catch it on YouTube!)
I think that about sums things up for August. Time now to gear up for September and start thinking about all things fall!
See you later!
