In the story of our lives, friends play many different roles. Some play the hero; saving us from a life of isolation and boredom, some play the comedic relief providing us entertainment and humor to get us through the day, and some play a small roll at first but become the love of our lives. And then there are those that play the villain; starting off as a main character in our life but quickly taking a malicious turn in a different direction. Whatever role they play, their presence is never forgotten and their actions play a significant part in shaping the outcome of our lives.
Life is crazy road, but having a co-pilot (or an entire cabin of them) can make the distance more bearable. Friendships can start up at any point in our lives and last for all different lengths of time. They can bloom over a cup of coffee, a new hobby, a significant life changing event, a child’s soccer game, or even a well-deserved vacation. At whatever point that person’s life path intersects with our own, the ride becomes more colorful and the chronicle changes. Or by considering the “tree of life” model, friends may not be limbs on our family trees but they certainly form the roots. They provide us stability with steadfastness, nourishment with a constant level of acceptance (even when we are wrong), and a sturdy support system that keeps us from toppling over.

Design Notes: I created this layout using a base paper with die--cut edges. It provides a different texture to the overall design. Also, by using complementary colors, in this case pink (color of our blouses) and orange (base paper), I was able to create a brighter and intense color combination for my layout. I used varying shades of pink to further complement the main color scheme. Designing around the edges (stamping and lace border) of the photo made it the focal point of the layout. The additional placement of the bling around the journal spot's border further leads the eye to both the journal and the photo.
Journaling: I knew when I started scrapbooking that I would gain new friends. Little did I know that I would meet you all. Such wonderful friends who have made a difference in my life. It was scrapbooking that brought us all together, and this passion has made us even closer. I'm happy that I can always look up to all of you for support and encouragement as we continue living our passion.

Design Notes: I love scrapping about my friends. To make the colours pop I used black sticker ribbon from my stash around the background paper and around the orange frame.
