That was Intentional!

Objective, aim, target, end, purpose, and ambition are all words found in the Thesaurus that mean the same as goal. Each of these words holds powerful meaning and is wrapped up in human emotion. To have a goal means that you have considered where you are and what is important, that you have foresight. A goal is different than a dream or even an intention. Establishing a goal means that you have decided what actions to take to make it come to fruition. What better way to record your action plan than to make a layout about your goals?

Many goals are established at the beginning of a new year or a new phase of life. You get married and have financial goals. You set scrappy goals involving the number of pages you want to complete. What is it that you resolve to accomplish? Like me, I bet you have a long list. Recording these on a layout makes them concrete and makes us accountable. If you don' know how to start, simply think about those things you want to achieve tomorrow, this year or ten years from now.

Each layout below documents the artist's resolutions. Notice how Stephanie wrote down lots of reasons why she should work hard to achieve them. If she is having trouble, all she has to do is read her own journaling. Michelle recorded each of her goals on a separate square, but then also wrote a positive note to herself. Danielle created a resolution involving daily interactions with her son and even made it measurable by using a percentage.

Goals 09 by: Stephanie Poullin-Regnie

Supplies: Papers: American Crafts, Cosmo Cricket, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Alphabet: American Crafts, Stickers: Jenni Bowlin Studio, Stamp: Stampin Up, Other: buttons.

Design Notes: With this layout, I wanted to visualize & explain my goals for 2009. I did not want to have dozens of goals that are not achieved at the end of the year. So I decided to focus on three reachable goals. Each goal is represented by an object. As I knew I wanted to journal a lot, I kept the design simple and played with a funky color combination!

Journaling: Scrap: I have to work on a better organization to scrap more at home, work on my style & techniques, write down my ideas in a notebook that I always keep with me, take part more often in challenges (forums, blogs ... ) because it is motivating! I should also try to be published in more magazines (on top of my regular publications in the French magazine: Scrap pour Tous). Cook: I have to have to keep in mind that cooking is not so difficult, and that it does not take that much time. Proof: I managed to cook a delicious dinner for Valentine's Day and it only took me 90 mins. Consequently, I have to spend more time in my kitchen to cook easy, healthy and balanced meals. It is good for our health. Run: I have to resume practicing sport to feel better in my own skin and in my head. I bought running shoes and I need to find motivation to run and make it become a habit, even an addiction. It is good for my lungs, my heart, and my bottom! and it gives a lot of energy.

I Resolve by Michelle Lanning

Supplies: Papers: Pink Paislee, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Die Cuts With a View, Chipboard: BasicGrey, Brads: Doodlebug Design, Bazzill Basics Paper, Alphabet: American Crafts.

Design Notes: I decided to go for a bold statement and made all of my goals be the focus of my layout. To balance the large writing blocks, I printed out a large photo of myself, which I turned black and white to make it pop.

Journaling: In no particular order I hope to accomplish all of these. They are very do-able, I just need to stay focused.

80/20 Rule by Danielle Layton

Supplies: Papers: Cosmo Cricket, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Chipboard: Maya Road.

Design Notes: The design is very simple and rigid, but playful at the same time. I'm trying to make that statement with my journaling-to move from rigid to fluid, heartfelt and fun.

Journaling: I enacted the 80/20 rule after a particularly bad day. I was tired of all the negative. So I decided that my interaction with you would include 80% positive dealings and only 20% negative or reprimands. It is kind of subjective, but basically I strive to say 8 good things to every 2 No's, Don'ts, Stop thats. It's a game I play with myself, I guess to try to see the best in every situation. I'm trying. Some days I fail. But I'm trying. Progress, not perfection is the goal.
