Digital Discovery

Our artist this month is Digital Discovery Stacey Michals. Stacey caught the eye of several designers out there and we’re glad to have her in a showcase this month!
Stacey seems to be a prime example of ‘she makes it look so easy!’ or ‘it’s harder than it looks.’ Really, look closely at Stacey’s work. A lot of effort goes into making her layouts look sweet and simple – layers upon layers, actions upon actions, and somehow coming out with a clean vision of the photograph – the memory of it all. Looks simple, but with subtle details.
I just love how Stacey uses a variety of techniques in her scrapbooking. You’ll see layering, you’ll see “texturizing”. You’ll see elements that look so real that you’ll take a second look just to find out. It seems her background in paper scrapping might lend a nice hand to her digital efforts.
Enjoy Stacey’s artwork here and in her galleries. Stacey, congratulations and we wish you the best of luck and success and lots more art!

Design notes: I prefer using a single photo on most of my
layouts. I just like focusing on that one picture.

Journaling: Care free. Lake Grapevine. July 6, 2008. |
Editor's notes: You might see simple, but take a closer look at most digital layouts. You will see layering, actions, textures and elements blended in a flurry of multiple-step digital scrapbooking.

Notepaper, Blue scallop trim from Shabby Miss Jenn Designs Splish Splash, Fonts: Typewriter.
Journaling: You and I had so much fun making up stories...they made no sense, but we laughed and laughed and laughed. | |
I have been paper scrapbooking for years but found digital scrapbooking in early 2004. Digital scrapbooking has become my preferred medium when telling the story of our family. It's very portable and there is a lot less mess!
My amazing husband Tim and I just celebrated our 6th anniversary. We have been blessed with two beautiful little girls, Nora Rose almost 5 years old and our newest addition Madelynn Alice born almost 4 months ago. See my work on my blog.
