It is amazing to me how fast the summer rushes past every year. Already August and time to start getting ready for school. The days are still beautiful, though. There is still time for a few special afternoons spent outside in the summer heat. Still time to catch those special shots of kids playing. My favorite visits are the ones to the beach. I love capturing photos of them in the waves, building sandcastles, or just burying themselves in the sand. Catch them, put them on a page, and share the memory. Let's see how our Creative Artists used this month's free digital kit.

Design notes:  The twig cluster in the kit went beautifully with the theme of my son playing with sticks. I used the frame for emphasis.

Playing With Sticks by Katey Green.  Digital Supplies:  The Shoreline by Handmaid Designs and Jorinde Designs for Scrapstreet.com, Fonts: Dandelion, Grumble.

Design notes:  This kit is all about the elements! Usually when I start a page it's all about the photo and I build from there. On this occasion I constructed the page around the use of the elements. Blending the photo and keeping a neutral background paper highlighted the fun graphics. The sand and seagull gives the photo a 3D feel and the green twigs on the left and right are tied together through the title word art.

Floating on a Sea of Love by Helen Hancock.  Digital Supplies:  The Shoreline by Handmaid Designs and Jorinde Designs for Scrapstreet.com, Sand and shells by Lockhart Designs (Digitop3), Fonts: CK Jacque, Typewriter.

Design notes:  The photo is of a flock of sea gulls taken in May at Lake Michigan. I loved using this months soft Sea colors!

By The Beautiful Sea by Jane Smith.  Digital Supplies:  The Shoreline by Handmaid Designs and Jorinde Designs for Scrapstreet.com, Font: Curlz.
