The last bell has rung and school is now in session. From pre-school to college, our kids are back in the classroom learning. By now the routines are pretty much in place and everyone seems to be settling in for another year of reading, writing, and arithmetic!

But it’s not just about academics! Oh, no, can’t forget about the school sports! And football is the number one sport on the streets right now. Whether it’s our favorite childhood team or our favorite pro team, our girls have football in their weekends.  Some of our moms cheer on their favorite teens as they tackle on the field.  Others are only there for the halftime show (and sneak out soon after seeing their daughters perform).  The die hard gals also prove that they know a thing or three about the analytical, strategic and statistical parts of football by participating and leading in a fantasy football league!

This is also the time of year for the high schools to gear up for their annual homecoming football games and dances. And, of course, our kids on Scrapstreet are not going to be left out. They are busy shopping for dresses and shoes and trying to figure out that perfect hairstyle. And to figure out that elusive problem of whether to go stag or with a date. Ah. … the joys of being a teen!  They even find time to look at scrapbooks of parents and grandparents all ready for their dances.  What better reason to scrap those dance pictures?

On another note, the gals at Scrapstreet did a bang-up job for our second annual Cards for Heroes drive. The month-long card making drive generated over 1,000 cards. Our dear Brianne, who spear-headed the event, is now sorting, packing and mailing the homemade cards to the appropriate people for disbursement among our troops. It was an awesome experience that everyone really felt good about. We had some excellent scrap celebrities join in and many of our favorite companies donated wonderful prizes.  I’m sure it’s something that will happen for years to come at Scrapstreet.

We celebrated our 4th anniversary in September. And in typical Scrapstreet fashion, we’re celebrating things just a little bit differently. Instead of celebrating our past 4 years, we’re celebrating our up-coming 5th year! So, peek in on the streets to find lots of challenges and games centering on the number 5. You just never know what you’re going to find that will challenge and inspire you.

Has your family begun the Halloween costume decision process?  Our sisters on the streets are already looking at ideas for this year.  A big hit this year seems to be the upcoming Alice in Wonderland movie bringing this classic story new popularity.  What are we not so happy about?  Some outfits seem to be a bit too racy for our tastes.  Fortunately the boys are a bit easier with important requirements like "must have a sword".

Are you ready for the weather to grow colder?  For your time outside to shorten?  Have plenty of summer pictures and stories all saved up ready to scrap?  Come on over to the Streets and find some inspiration in our challenges and gallery.  And don't forget to check out our upcoming magazine calls; you might see your work in an upcoming issue.  Happy Scrapping!
