Three words describe my next three layouts; BIG, BOLD TITLES! This is one aspect of typography that I have yet to master so I am totally envious of these three designers. By making the title the first thing that captures the reader’s attention, you give them an understanding of your page before your journaling is even read. Frances’s use of typography in her title is beautiful to me. I love the recycled book pages that have been cut in the shape of her word “one”. The different fonts and mediums used for the rest of her “speak” only add to the entire look of the page. Kara brings the reader directly up and personal with the subject of her layout with the word “You” and the single photo of her man. Kara and Tacha both used one of my very favorite color combinations of a majority of white or black, and that gorgeous pop of red. Tacha’s layout “8” is stunning with its clean lines and the use of the number 8 instead of the word.

You're the One by Frances A. Sylvia
Supplies: Papers, Chipboard, Flowers: Prima Marketing, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Stickers: Jenni Bowlin Studio, My Little Shoebox, Dymo, Bella Blvd., Sheers: Maya Road, Tickets: Jenni Bowlin Studio, Eyelets: Making Memories, Other: twine, book paper.
Design Notes: To make the star, I punched holes and inserted eyelets. I then threaded the twine through the eyelets to make the huge star embellishment.
Journaling: You are the 1 and only boy ... 1 of the reasons Nanny visits.

I Adore You by Kara Henry
Supplies: Papers, Die-Cuts: Scenic Route, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Paint, Chipboard: Making Memories, Stickers, Pen: American Crafts, Buttons: Doodlebug Design, Journaling Block: Heidi Swapp, Ink: Tsukineko, Font: Arial.
Design Notes: I printed a black text box with white lettering in Adobe Photoshop, then cut it into journaling strips after I sprayed it with fixative. The YOU was hand cut after I drew the letters freehand on the back of my cardstock.
Journaling: It's true, I do adore you. You are my rock, my life, my reason for being. Thank you so much for loving me and being there for me. Thank you for making life fun and meaningful and for making me feel like I matter.

"8" by Tacha
Supplies: Papers: Luxe Designs, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Stamp: Florilège Design, Fonts: Edition, Scriptina, Other: fine cord, labels, stamp.
Design Notes: This is a mosaic to give to my son Florian - a rundown of the fantastic week-end on his 8th birthday. I used 12 pictures to sum up these 2 days with his godfather. I set them to allow a big space for the journaling and details, (as Marie C's style). I love to use a lot on my layouts, especially handmade labels and fine cord. I printed a big 8 directly on the Luxe design paper, then cut and stitched on the paper.
Journaling: Méga top Week-end means fantastic week end. For your birthday, my son of 8, you had a fantastic week-end. Your godfather came with his family. You played all the day long! Skateboard, playmobiles, walk... The high point: Pirate’s party in the evening, delicious strawberry pie and ............gifts. |
