Digital Discovery

Let’s tell a tale of space and time – lots of white space and plenty of time. Let’s tell a tale of a wannabe crafter who found her art and her craft in digital scrapping. Let’s tell a tale of some fun and crafty art. Welcome, come meet this month’s digital discovery, Nidia Figueroa!

For this one, you need to get a little dressed up, stop at the coffee shop down the road and bring your latest art atlas. Why, you ask? Because visiting with this digital artist is like stepping down the south wing of the nearest art museum. Truly! I could imagine myself seeing Nidia’s creations framed and fastened to a slight, lightly colored museum wall, with onlookers walking past making ‘ooh and aah’ comments.

Nidia’s use of white space is beautiful and certainly characteristic of her art. However, it’s what’s beyond (in or among) her white space that really personalizes her scrapbook and all its pages. Anyone lucky enough to view her layouts may think, “Ooh, pretty” at first sight. But left to linger, the viewer begins to see layer upon layer of beauty, detail and color. Soft, subtle, simplistic, yet classy, nostalgic and a little whimisical.

So after you walk down Nidia’s museum hall, tell her "congratulations, your work is stunning" and wish her luck in her future digital art endeavors. We at ScrapStreet do!

Journaling: Basking in the glorious morning sunshine.

About two and a half years ago I stumbled on to a digi-scrapping website while teaching myself Photoshop and a new creative world opened up to me, a world full of possibilities and a chance to be creative.

I like to experiment with different techniques and styles but most of all I like to create in the way that I want to be me in those pages. I love scrapping "old" photos in new ways and more than often I love using those 'imperfect" photos which we don't pay much attention to. My artistic style is clean, simple and minimalist - I prefer one photo layouts, white backgrounds, the use of few elements and I am very very fond of brushes and masks. I believe digi-scrapping should always be fun and entertaining - it's play!

Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank ScrapStreet Magazine for the amazing opportunity, seeing "something" in my work and giving me the possibility of inspiring some of your readers out there. See me on my blog.
