Back to Black

Can’t decide which colors to use? Why not go multi-color and get funky? Veronica’s “So Happy”, Elina’s “Summer 09”, and Nicole’s “It’s All About the Jump” are all bold and awesome as the black backgrounds of their layouts allowed them to play around with their choice of colors.

I hope these beauties inspired you to gather your black cardstock and use them in your layouts this month. I’m sure no matter what colors you decide to play with, black will definitely blend well because of its versatility. Have fun finding your way back to black!

So Happy by Veronica Trias

Supplies: Papers: Me & My Big Ideas, Stickers: American Crafts, Anna Griffin, Chipboard: Bazzill Basics Paper, Colorbok, Studio 18, Brads: Special Moments, Pen: Uniball Signo, Zig.

Design Notes: I love how using bright colors against a black background make for an eye-catching layout. I attempted to create a fresh and funky feel by cutting the small squares into asymmetric shapes. The white doodles and stickers also draw the eye in and create additional interest.

Journaling: In front of the Bellagio, Las Vegas. April 2009.

Summer 09 by Elina Koutsouradi

Supplies: Papers, Cardstock, Stickers, Chipboard: American Crafts, Alphabet Stickers: Heidi Swapp.

Design Notes: I loved my new heart sunglasses and wanted to scrap them to remember this summer. I have used the concept of the "grid" in this layout, along with bright colors which pop up against the black background.

It's All About the Jump by Nicole Pomeroy

Supplies: Papers: Cosmo Cricket, October Afternoon, Cardstock, Foam, Pen: American Crafts, Alphabet Stickers: American Crafts, Doodlebug Design, Stickers: October Afternoon; Border Punch: Fiskars, Other: button, tile.

Design Notes: Hand cut a section of your title. Mount the material behind and secure by stitching around the outside of the letters.
