Did you know that Lady Luck’s color is orange? There is a myth that you should burn orange candles for 7 straight nights when you desire a change of any kind. It is recommended that you wear the color orange during times of stress as it can make you more willing to try new things.
Proving that orange can spark novel ideas, each of the artists below used a common pair of colors to make very unique layouts. Pairing orange with dark green, Aileen showed how elegant this classic color combination can be. Aphra took a bolder green and orange, creating a energetic layout full of movement. Liza went in a different direction, putting orange with a sea foam green color. Not quite a pastel palette, yet the effect is softer and very eye-catching.
Orange is a nice compliment to many other colors. Put next to red and yellow, it makes a monotone combination. Paired with black, it symbolizes Halloween. But, orange is so much more than just pumpkins and candy corn! If you are looking to make a color splash on your next layout, reach for the orange! You will be glad you did!

Ten Blessed Years Together by Aileen Griffiths
Supplies: Papers: My Mind's Eye, Cardstock: Die Cuts With a View, Flowers: Prima Marketing, Brads, Stickers: Making Memories, Journaling Overlay: Hambly Screen Prints, Border Punch: Fiskars, Pen: Sharpie.
Design Notes: For our tenth anniversary layout, I thought it would be fun to compare these two pictures of my husband and me, one from our honeymoon and the other one from our anniversary trip. To complement the cluster of flowers, I added the leaves with swirls that I cut out from some old scrap paper.

Little Whispers by Liza Bermudez
Supplies: Papera: American Crafts, We R Memory Keepers, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Alphabet: American Crafts, Kaisercraft, Brads: We R Memory Keepers, KI Memories, Rub-On: Imaginisce, Frills: We R Memory Keepers, Pen: Staedtler.
Design Notes: I created this layout using contrasting colors (green and orange) for the background and patterned papers. The color orange was also highlighted by mixing it with neutral colors like brown and beige. I maximized the "white space" by using a single photo and limiting the positioning of the papers and embellishments in the design. By distressing the edges of the patterned paper, it created texture for the design as well.
Journaling: Gabby, what could it be that you're trying to tell Migo? It is so cute to see the two of you like this. What could you be telling your cousin? That is if you could talk already... |
