Mind, Body and Spirit

Summing up who I am, what I do, and what I like in just a few sentences is not easy, but let me start with the basics. My name is Janneke Bakker - Smit Duyzentkunst, but I usually just use the part "Smit". I am married to my best friend Hans and we have two kids, Darren (8) and Larissa (6). Currently I am a work-at-home-mom; I do the accounting for our home based business.

My husband and I were born and raised in the Netherlands. I studied there as well; I have an engineer’s degree (roughly equivalent to a master's degree) in Information and Communication Technology. I am a complete perfectionist and half a geek. I spend a lot of time behind my computer, often working and playing at the same time. I love high-tech toys, science fact and fiction, and, like any other geek, some social situations can be challenging for me.

But I am not only interested in science and technology. While I was still in college I started a course in intuition development, mainly working on myself. And after more courses I became an energy healer, working with other people’s energies, auras, and chakras. I am still drawn to many aspects of the New Age spirituality today.

When we were still living in the Netherlands, I also became a personal trainer and life style consultant. For a few years, I was completely into fitness, strength training and nutrition. Now that I have a much busier life, and arthritis, I take it a little easier. However, I still exercise regularly, and I am conscious about what I eat, and what I feed my family.

My life is so full right now that I do not have any other hobbies besides scrapbooking although I do like to read.

Things that make me Smile by Janneke Smit

Digital Supplies: Brushes: Fairy Wings, Aurora Borealis, Glitter II by Stephanie Shimerdla (Obsidian Dawn), Brads: Janneke Smit. Software: Adobe Photoshop CS3, Fonts: Papyrus, Birch Std, Informal Roman.

Design Notes: I used Photoshop’s Artistic Watercolor filter to create the effect on the large photo. For the rest I just played with digital brushes, shadows, and layer styles.

Journaling: - Fridays – new art and craft supplies – the smell of baby powder – my first cup of coffee in the morning … and my second … and my third – a glass of excellent Scotch – IM windows popping up – high heels – changing my hair color
