Who can think of summertime and not think of the yummy sweets and treats that we all enjoy? Not me! Big, bright lollipops and yummy ice cream treats just scream summertime to me! And who could resist capturing those sweet, colorful memories on our scrapbook pages? Bright, bold and fun colors compliment our memories perfectly, whether they are contrasted with bright white or striking black.

Sugar, Sugar by Kate Childers

Supplies: Papers: American Crafts.

Design Notes: I love using song lyric or titles as inspiration for layouts. I matched the paper to the lollipop. I played with layering the paper till I liked the look.

Journaling: Sugar, sugar, you are my candy girl. Katie self Portrait. 2009

Ice cream by Anna Koziarek

Supplies: Papers: 7Gypsies, BasicGrey, Cosmo Cricket, Brads, Buttons: BasicGrey, Chipboard, Ribbons: Fancy Pants Designs, Ink: Ranger, Rub-Ons: Daisy D's, Reminisce, Stickers: Pebbles Inc., Transparencies: Maya Road, Fancy Pants Designs, Tickets: Jenni Bowlin Studio, Glossy Accents: Ranger.

Design Notes: I used Photoshop to edit the photo and enhance the ice-cream's color.

Journaling: George theoretically is allergic to milk, so he shouldn't eat ice-cream. But I simply cannot refuse him, especially when he asks for strawberry ones :)

LolliPop by Patty Hamilton

Supplies: Papers: Sassafras Lass, BasicGrey, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Alphabet: BasicGrey, Flowers: Cosmo Cricket, Stickers: October Afternoon, Gems: K & Company, Creative Imaginations, Kaisercraft.

Design Notes: To mimic the lollipop my son is eating I created my own. I used a little strip of patterned paper as the stick and gems and pearls as the candy. I also imitated the lollipop by adding polka dot brads to the O's in the title. Another thing I do sometimes if I like the design of my layout, want to add journaling but don't want it on my page is add the journaling on the back. With this layout, my son added an entire roll of Hermafix on his face on the photo while I was making dinner. When I asked him why he told me, "tape is sticky and so are lollipops", I wanted to add that as part of the story but had already finished the layout so I added the story to the back.

Journaling: So much fun to get a special treat, we are proud of you for potty training and becoming a big boy!
