Card Corner

As the Halloween holiday approaches this year, I will find myself giving out way more coveted treats then I will receive and I find myself just as giddy about that as I ever was searching for a loot. One of the basic “treats” that I will be giving out this year will be Halloween cards. Now don’t get me wrong, along with my card there will also be a treat or two, but I find more joy in the creating of the cards then the excitement of the sweets.

One of my favorite things about Halloween cards is the fact that you can mix and match several colors, textures and patterns that you might not necessarily consider otherwise. There is something about this holiday that says “have fun, be a kid” and I think that when you are creating your cards this season ... do just that. I know that this will bring much joy to you and also your recipient. I think I might even send a few out to my brothers and possibly even attach some of those treats that we cherished so many years ago.

I hope these cards inspire you to get creative and send out some spook-ta-cular cards this season. As always, if you have felt inspired, we would love to see your creations in our gallery.

Happy Halloween Card by Reneé Morris-Dezember

Supplies: Papers: G.C.D. Studios, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Stamps: Unity Stamp Company, Punch: McGill, Button: Chatterbox, Ink: Tsukineko, Hampton Art, Other: machine stitching, ribbon.

Design Notes: I wanted to add more of the glitter look to the front of the card ... the pattern paper has some stripes of glitter so I embossed my Circle Frenzy stamp with some glittery embossing powder and added it to the card front and it added that special touch to the front.

Skull Trick or Treat by Chrys Queen Rose

Supplies: Papers: Boxer Scrapbook Productions, Imaginsce, Kaisercraft, Rub-Ons: Reminisce, Grungeboard: Tim Holtz.

Design Notes: I used my cuttlebug to emboss one of the pattern papers. I also painted the grungeboard skull with a purple which looks striking on the lime green paper.

Spooky by Laura Davis

Supplies: Papers: Making Memories, Cardstock: Core'dinations, Stickers: EK Success, Pen: Sakura, Rub-On: Doodlebug Design, Tools: Celebrations Cartridge (Cricut), Other: stamp, ribbon.

Design Notes: Throw out the idea that Halloween cards have to scary. They can be spooky and cute at the same time.
