Greetings from a resident ScrapStreet sports anchor (and I wouldn’t have it any other way!) Instead of going into the history of sport, visiting Greece, and reviewing the evolution of the idea, I found myself dwelling in the creation of sport on a scrapbook page.
Let’s start with the “two-pagers”. Upon reviewing the submissions for this sports call, I was amazed with these three layouts. It wasn’t until I was pulling them together and editing away that I noticed the similarities! Turns out that Rusty Pickle is a great inspiration to sports these days. Take a look at the colors these ladies use and how they use them: bright, primary, bold, and accented.
The two-pagers came from a sketch, and that sketch adequately promoted motion on a sport page. From the arched layered background to the use of arrows (selected individually from each designer) to the swirls and flourishes, the eye “gets” the movement, and is subtly reminded that this layout is, indeed, about celebrating a sport.
Keeping in mind that we’re trying to create movement on a page without exactly an interactive outlet, the above list of motion-full elements is a good start. Turn the page and let’s explore height, dimension, and getting up close and personal with all aspects of sport.

Journaling: Poor Hayden usually gets frustrated when playing with Austin. Austin is SO competitive. All he cares about is winning. He has even been known to change the rules just to ensure that he wins! And he throws a fit when he doesn’t win. Hayden just wants to be able to play. |
