Altered Holiday

Christmas is right around the corner, and that means the season of giving is upon us! Buying gifts for everyone you know can really add up and break the bank ... but I have some great ideas to share with you that will be perfect for any budget!

We all have some type of tin, canister, or bottle lying around the house. Don’t believe me? Go take a look in your recycling bin or cupboard! Are you a coffee drinker? Make sure you keep that coffee grind container! Or what about all those baby food jars? After a good washing you’ll be all ready to create something wonderful for that special person in your life!

Altered Coffee Tin by Patti Milazzo

Supplies: Papers, Stickers, Buttons, Bling: Bo Bunny, Punches: Fiskars, Other: tin, wooden ball knobs, mini brad, paint.

Design Notes: After covering the container, I added border punched strips as well as paper strips that were folded and machine stitched. I also glued small wooden knobs that I painted brown to the bottom for feet. Another suggestion for the container would be to cut a small slit in the plastic lid top tin that’s large enough to fit coins turning it into a small coin bank.

Life is Sweet by Suzanne Sergi

Supplies: Papers, Ribbon, Charm, Chipboard, Stickers: Pebbles Inc., Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Tools: Die-Cut (Quickutz), Punch (McGill), Embossing Folder (Provo Craft), Other: jar.

Design Notes: I wrapped a 6"x 12" piece of patterned paper around the jar, embossed and stamped a note die-cut, and adhered to the front with pop dots. I also embellished a cupcake shape and added this to the note die-cut.

Party Favors by Tiffany Crabtree and Dacia Alba

Design Notes: These are really easy and super fun jars to make and fill up (e.g. with cocoa mix or marshmallows) for a seasonal treat!
