| Going Vintage with Doilies You can always depend on the scrapbook industry to develop new and hot products. Scrapbook companies are smart; they sit back and observe what is floating around the web. With doilies being a hot trend, it was only a matter of time before you would spot doilies on paper, chipboard, rub-ons, and transparencies. Cosmo Cricket, Crate Paper, Maya Road, and My Mind’s Eye are designing beautiful products with doilies. They give us the detail, vintage feel, and warmth that we desire from an actual doily. Jennifer, Robyn, and I have certainly fell prey to their suaveness. Really, how can you resist? Take a look at these layouts and try on a doiley or two for yourself! Family by Jennifer Moore Supplies: Paper, Chipboard: Crate Paper, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Alphabet Stickers: Jenni Bowlin Studio. Design Notes: Whenever I don't have the "right" embellishments, I always look to my patterned paper as a resource. I like to cut shapes and objects out of patterned paper, like I did with the doilies behind the photo, and use them on my pages. Journaling: Austin, Evan, Aaron, & Brooklyn. Our Favorite Treat by Robyn Schaub Supplies: Paper: My Mind's Eye, Pink Paislee, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Alphabet Stickers: American Crafts, Doodlebug Design, Cosmo Cricket, Flowers: Jillibean Soup, Die Cuts, Ribbon, Brads: My Mind's Eye, Ink: Ranger Industries, Specialty Ink: Tattered Angels, Pens: Sharpie, Sketch: Jana Eubank. Tools: Ink Blending Tool: Ranger Industries. Design Notes: To fit with the cotton candy theme, I misted the doily paper with Glimmer Mist and used Distress Ink in Spun Sugar to give a pink tint to the border paper. I loved the way the pinks in the papers had a sharp contrast with the blue/green cardstock, but the background of the polka dot paper pulled it all together. Journaling: Cotton candy at the State Fair is always such a treat! October 2010. 4 Smiles by Frances Sylvia Supplies: Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Cardstock: The Paper Studio, Bazzill Basics Paper, Alphabet, Pen: American Crafts, Tags: Maya Road, Jillibean Soup, Transparency, Charms: Maya Road, Buttons: BoBunny Press, Floss: DMC, Sketch: Creative Scrappers, Label Maker: DYMO. Design Notes: The look of the Maya Road transparency really looks like an actual doily. To adhere the Maya Road transparency I dabbed a few dots of Crystal Accents…it dries perfectly clear!! Journaling: Christmas PJ's 2008. |
