Technology
It’s hard to imagine life without computers, mobile phones and the other amazing gadgets that touch our lives every day. Technology is everywhere, and it’s constantly evolving. Today’s cutting-edge technology may be old news in a few short years, so why not stop and capture the ways that technology touches your life?
Gadget-lovers have amazing brand loyalty. Take a look at Janine Boyd’s homage to her favorite technology company. Joscelyn Cutchens documents how the look of her iPod has changed over a short period of time, and Mary Rogers tells the story of how her favorite new gadget came into her life.

I {heart} Apple by Janine Boyd
Supplies: Paper: My Mind's Eye, BasicGrey, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Chipboard, Rub-Ons, Bling: BasicGrey, Alphabet Stickers: American Crafts, Making Memories, Stickers: My Mind's Eye, Little Yellow Bicycle, Buttons: My Mind's Eye, Pens: Sharpie. Tools: Other: sewing machine.
Design Notes: Rather accidentally, the photo of the Macbook with the word sticker underneath looks a bit like a computer monitor, which I like. Happy accidents are good in my book! I also like to use scraps of paper as photo mats on layouts as I've done here.
Journaling: It started with an iPhone and in a heartbeat I was hooked! My phone and my Macbook are so pretty...they make me happy :) I heart apple!

iPod Evolution by Joscelyne Cutchens
Digital Supplies: Miss Mint's iRock Kit by Miss Mint, Miss Mint's Puffy Paint Alpha White by Miss Mint, Miss Mint's Puffy Paint Alpha Yellow by Miss Mint (all from PeppermintCreative.com), Software: Adobe Photoshop CS5, Fonts: VT Portable Remington
Design Notes: I placed the yellow starburst shape under the element cluster to draw the eye there. I added the same blue star from the element stack on the left under the title and picture on the right for visual balance. I also chose white letters for the title to mirror the headphones under the pictures. I shot my own pictures of my iPods and looked up online to see what year they were released for the captions. If you want to do a similar layout but don't have the item to photograph, you could try an online image search for the item(s).
Journaling: I have always loved music. I can remember making mixed tapes in the old days. My collection has evolved from stacks of CDs to digital music via several models of iPods

Dyson Love by Mary Rogers
Digital Supplies: Kit: Colorful Kisses by Edeline Marta (Two Peas in a Bucket), Element: ArtPlay Palette Sports paper by Anna Aspnes (Designer Digitals), Element: Grunge Coffee Cup Stains/Rings (Brusheezy), Software: Photoshop Elements 8.0, Fonts: CK Ali's Handwriting, You Are Loved.
Design Notes: One reason I love digital is the ability to make a kit work for your photo. I usually have a photo and story in mind and then search for the papers and elements, but sometimes I have a kit I am working with and, after viewing the papers and elements, search for a story in my photos. I recently posted on Facebook asking about Dyson’s. I wanted some additional opinions from friends before we decided to finally make the purchase (my story) - took a photo of it as soon as we got home (my photo) and then decided I wanted the focus of the layout to be on the photo and title. I also like to frame my layouts and embrace the white space. When scrapping digital you have so many options. Just play and have fun!
Journaling: We waited as long as we could before we caved and bought you at Target (on sale). You are everything you claimed to be and more. You move seamlessly from our hardwood to the tile and move on to the carpet and rugs without complaint. Your attachments make getting all our dust off the logs and furniture easy and practically make vacuuming fun. Welcome to our home, we are so glad you are here. May 2011
