Call Me!

As new releases roll out from our favorite manufacturers, I find myself getting excited to see the latest trends. This past January, I noticed phones were everywhere. How cool would phones be as an element to a card? You can find them as part of the pattern in papers, die cuts, stickers and stamps. So the possibilities are truly endless. Just think about all the fun sentiments you could come up with when it involves a phone: “Call Me!”, “Phone Home” and “Let’s Talk Soon!” The phone provides great symbolism for those cards that signify keeping in touch or checking in with a friend and loved one.

How about some inspiration to see some fun ways to incorporate this ever important communication device? Do you see a similar element on the cards of Jen and Irit? That’s right! They used the same phone stamp and yet, look how differently both are used on these cards. Irit created a lovely cluster of phone embellishments to balance her “Hi Friend” card. Jen lets the phone do the “talking” here and will use the card for a friend she wants to keep in touch with. Did you also notice that she used phone book pages for the background? How appropriate! Finally, I love how Nancy used that gorgeous phone booth to draw attention to this stunning, all occasion card.

Some other ideas for incorporating a phone element to your card include using your electronic cutter for a shaped card, clip art of an iphone to stay up with current technology trends or using a patterned background with phones. So many ways and ideas to use this fun element to your card making!

Hi Friend by Dr. Irit Shalom

Supplies: Paper, Stickers: October Afternoon, Cardstock: American Crafts, Ink: Clearsnap, Embossing Powder: Wow! Embossing Powders. Tools: Stamps: Suzy West (Wow! Embossing Powders), Other: stapler.

Design Notes: The best way to make a fast card is to use the same product line, as I did with this card. Then you can stamp the sentiment or to cut out some images to fit this product line colors or motives. I also stick to this odd number rule, so I made 3 phone images for this card (one can be good too, but not even numbers)
