Chevrons are such a versatile design, and something about those sharp pointy triangles make it so much fun! If you are a scrapbooker, you have probably been seeing a lot chevron patterns appearing in your supplies- in patterned papers, in stamps, in borders etc. They are literally everywhere! For this month, our inspiration image is a bright striped chevron painting, full of colors and hard angles.
Inspiration Chevron Painting by Carrie Buller (Cuppa Color Etsy Store)
Editor's Notes: I chose this image as our inspiration because those fun bright colors simply scream summer! The stripes are an added design element that adds interest.
I am amazed at how this one image has inspired five different ladies so differently. I absolutely love the softness in Nicole’s layout. I also love how the pastel colors are balanced with pops of bright colors. That chevron cloud she added has to be the cutest thing ever! In Anita’s layout, the chevron pattern consists of just two colors- black and white. But she then brings so much color to the layout by clever placement of patterned paper. Simply artistic.
So This is What Love Looks Like by Nicole Martel
Supplies: Paper: Creative Memories, G.C.D Studios, Alphabet: Glitz Design, Jewels: Zva Creative, Pen, Adhesives: Creative Memories. Tools: Corner Rounder, Punch: Creative Memories.
Design Notes: I cut the leaves off my flower bling to create raindrops for my layout.
Little Miss Sunshine by Anita Scroggins
Supplies: Paper: Amy Tangerine (American Crafts), BasicGrey, Flowers: Webster’s Pages, Prima Marketing, Buttons, Die Cuts, Journal Card: Amy Tangerine (American Crafts), Jewels: Kaiser Craft, Ribbon: Offray, The Twinery, Ink: Tsukineko, Adhesive: Scotch.
Design Notes: I wanted to use the bold pattern of the chevrons, but found it overwhelming for a background. Putting a block of a near solid color in the middle of the layout really made the chevrons stand out and focused the eye on the photo in the center.
